Worongary – Tallai is bounded by the localities of Gilston and Highland Park in the north, the Pacific Motorway, Mudgeeraba Road, Old Coach Road and the locality of Mudgeeraba in the east, Wallandra Road and the locality of Mudgeeraba in the south, and the locality of Advancetown and The Panorama in the west.

Name origin

Worongary is thought to be named from an Aboriginal word meaning “vine”.

Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from the late 1800s. Significant development took place from the 1970s to the early 1990s. Population growth slowed from the mid 1990s, with growth through to 2006 as new dwellings continued to be added to the area. The population and dwelling stock were relatively stable between 2006 and 2011.
