Location and boundaries

Parkwood – Arundel is bounded by the Gold Coast Highway in the north, Olsen Avenue in the east, the Smith Street Motorway in the south, and the Pacific Motorway and Coombabah Creek in the west.

Settlement history

Development of the area dates primarily from the 1980s, with rapid growth from the late 1980s. The population almost quadrupled during the 1990s, a result of large numbers of new dwellings being added to the area. Growth continued between 2001 and 2006, but at a slower rate. The population and dwelling stock were relatively stable between 2006 and 2011.

Land use

Parkwood – Arundel is a relatively recent residential and industrial area.

Major features

Major features of the area include Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area, Arundel Hills Country Club, Parkwood International Golf Course, Arundel Plaza, Parklands Plaza, Golden Wheel Park and two schools.
