Location and boundaries

Broadbeach Waters is bounded by the Nerang River in the north, Little Tallebudgera Creek, Eady Avenue, T. E. Peters Drive and Little Tallebudgera Creek in the east, Melody Street, Sunshine Boulevard, Hooker Boulevard and Nerang-Broadbeach Road in the south, and the locality of Carrara in the west.

Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from the late 1800s, although population was minimal until the post-war years. Growth took place from the 1950s, spurred by land reclamations and the development of canal estates. Rapid development occurred during the 1960s and 1970s. The population has fluctuated slightly since the early 1990s, a result of small changes in dwelling stock and dwelling occupancy rates.

Broadbeach Waters is an established residential and commercial area, with substantial waterways.

Major features of the area include Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, Albert Park and Moana Park.
